Abstract:
In May 2020 Archaeological Solutions Limited (AS) carried out an archaeological evaluation at Merchant Taylors School, Sandy Lodge Lane, Moor Park, Hertfordshire, HA6 2HT (Figs.1 and 2; NGR TQ 09134 94096). The evaluation was undertaken in compliance with a planning condition attached to planning approval for the construction of a new indoor cricket centre (Three Rivers Planning Approval Ref. 19/2039/FUL). It was required by the local planning authority based on the advice of Hertfordshire County Council Historic Environment Advisory Team (HCC HEAT). The site had the potential to reveal archaeology dating from the Palaeolithic through to the post-medieval period. No archaeological features or finds were present. The site stratigraphy was intact, including as it did a subsoil, and therefore had archaeological features been present they would likely have been preserved.
