Abstract:
Monitoring, observation and recording during groundwork. GNSS survey. Given the site’s location in the historic core of Bow Brickhill village, there was potential for buried remains pertaining to the origin and/or development of the medieval village; possibly the site of an early tenement. There was also reasonable potential for remains of the Roman period, The results showed that the ground had not been disturbed for over 300 years. A single sherd of medieval pottery (late C11 / mid C13) was found in the subsoil. There was no evidence of land-use in the medieval or pre-medieval periods. Of local curiosity there was a cache of over 2000 rounds of late 19th century small arms ammunition.
