This report was produced to provide a detailed archaeology and cultural heritage baseline assessment from which future development, management and enhancement of Oulton Hall golf course could be assessed. The site includes a Registered Park and Garden around a Listed Hall and there were proposals for a remodelling of the golf course wihtin the Registered area. The report advised of potential setting issues with the listed buildings within the site. The potential for buried archaeological remains was identified and mitigation strategies proposed including but not limited to evaluation excavations in advance of construction, excavation of archaeological remains in advance of construction or archaeologically monitored topsoil stripping and watching brief during construction.

A desk based assessment was prepared in order to accompany a planning application for Birmingham City University phase 2 and 3 development. The site is in the centre of Birmingham. There is one Listed Building within the site although the effect of the development on this was considered in a separate report. There are also several designated sites within the study area. The site was not considered to contain sufficient archaeological potential within the development site to warrant undertaking evaluation excavations in advance of development. However, as the development was likely to affect any remains of post-medieval structures and any potential buried soils within the development area it was recommended that a watching brief be implemented during the initial construction phase to monitor the removal of overburden and record any archaeological features of interest.

This report was prepared to inform a planning application for a secure compound development, containing a launch and receive inspection facility, north of Brogborough, Bedfordshire.There was considered to be a very low potential for any previously unrecorded archaeological remains to be recorded within the development site boundary therefore no mitigation measures were recommended. The potential setting issues were assessed and the impact was considered negligible.

An archaeological desk-based assessment was undertaken to inform the proposed development of car parks in Neston town centre, considering a study area of c. 1km around the proposed development. No designated or undesignated heritage assets are recorded within the site boundary. Historic mapping indicates that later medieval burgage plots may have been present within the proposed site boundary - development may also have an impact on post-medieval settlement within the town.

This Archaeological and Cultural Heritage Desk Based Assessment was prepared to accompany an outline planning application for development at the Currock Yard site, Carlisle. The site comprises predominantly railways sidings and associated railway sheds. Almost the entirety of the site is hard standing. A 0.75km study area was chosen, which contained no World Heritage Sites, Scheduled Monuments, Registered Battlefields or Registered Common Land. There are eight Listed Buildings within the study area; primarily industrial and residential buildings and are all Grade II Listed. The area has seen activity since the Roman period due to the proximity of Hadrian's Wall. A site walkover survey was undertaken on 22nd September 2009. It was recommended that a Level 3 survey as defined by the English Heritage guidance Understanding Historic Buildings (2006) be undertaken on the built heritage remains of Currock Yard engine shed, and the details recorded prior to demolition. Geotechnical and geoenvironmental site investigations are planned to be undertaken and the results will be used to identify whether the potential to discover previously unrecorded archaeological remains within the development site is still viable.

This report has been prepared to accompany a planning application for a residential development to replace the halls of residence. The sources consulted to prepare this document included a data search of Somerset Historic Environment Record, the examination of historic mapping and further documentary sources. A site walkover survey was also carried out. Recent archaeological evaluation undertaken to the north of the site has demonstrated the archaeological potential for the presence and survival of significant archaeological deposits in this area. Nevertheless, due to previous development it is considered that any previously unrecorded remains are likely to have been truncated or removed entirely. For these reasons the overall heritage potential of the site is considered to be Low, if not negligible and there are areas where the site must be considered to have no heritage potential whatsoever. As a result, no further archaeological works are recommended.

This report was prepared to inform a store development proposal. The research to inform the report included a search of the Birmingham City Historic Environment Record and Sandwell Historic Environment Record. A further documentary search was also carried out including historic mapping. To supplement this, a site walkover survey was carried out. There were no recorded heritage sites within the development site and no setting issues were identified as any Listed Buildings were considered sufficiently distant. It was also concluded that it was unlikely that any significant previously unrecorded remains would be present within the development site. However it was identified, through site investigations, that palaeoenvironmental deposits may be present within the site. It was recommended that consultation with a geoarchaeologist be completed to identify the potential for suitable palaeoenvironmental remains and a programme of sampling to be designed.

This report was prepared to inform a residential development proposal at Grange Farm, Doncaster. Based on the number of recorded hertiage sites within the development site and the perceived potential, a geophysical survey was recommended to assess the potential for unrecorded remains. The results of this would influence the design and further mitigation strategies although it was suggested that targeted evaluation excavations would be an appropriate technique.

This Archaeological and Cultural Heritage Desk-Based Assessment was prepared to accompany a planning application for the development of a new 11,000 volt switch room and transformer housing building and associated car parking and infrastructure at Harlow Moor Road, Harrogate, North Yorkshire. There were no recorded archaeological remains identified within the development site. There is considered to be a negligible potential to discover previously unrecorded archaeological remains within the development site. The development site does not appear to have been occupied in antiquity and lies within an area which appears to have had a low density of settlement under the later post-medieval period. During the post-medieval and early modern period historic mapping has indicated that the site remained undeveloped and utilised for allotments and sports fields until the construction of the bottling plant.
