Fortified footbridge over railway line. 10 x loopholes cut into the steel plate of the sides, two on the S side of the W end, and two on the N side, three on the S side of the E end, and three on the N side of the E end. 12ins x 6ins x 1,5ins (thick), in centre of panels, approx 4ft 11ins from base, 1ft 9ins from top, 1ft 1in from sides of panels.

Detail: The footbridge is currently (12/01) threatened with dismantlement for a new one to be built. The civil engineers behind this project (Southampton University) have enquired as to the historic importance of the bridge, so it is hoped that the rebuild can include the 1940 elements.
