The route of the anti-tank ditch of the London Outer Line was still partly extant in 1946 and shows on aerial photographs of that date. Most sections, however, had been backfilled, and these show on the APs as a soil mark scar traversing the landscape. Two main sections were detected, each over seven miles in length. The course of the ditch was heavily augmented by pillboxes, seemingly at every directional change, and continued towards the E through Essex.
