Structure plotted from air photograph.
(Source: Air Photograph 1946/11/13)
Angled rectangular structure termed a section post. One of three similar structures at this location [see UORNs 6048 and 16497]. Plotted from OS 1:2500 sheet.
(Source: Map 1968)
Angled section post with 18 embrasures in its E and SE faces. Some of the embrasures have recently been covered with white patches. Two doorways at the N and S ends. All concrete. No proper access here as entry to this part of Cowpen Marsh is forbidden because of possible contamination. Despite this warning, however, access is possible via a stile and footbridge. UORNs 6048 and 16497 lie close to the W and NW forming a remarkable group.
