Type 28 pillbox [sic], with blast wall; facing WNW on Old Canal embankment.

Vickers heavy machine gun emplacement in an enfilade position along the disused Chard Canal embankment. This is emplacement NV18 on the Taunton Stop Line, and one of a pair. It also covers the Hammonds Farm canal bridge. It is sited under the forward edge of the scarped canal bank on the 'enemy' side of the obstacle but within the planned barbed wire entanglement.
