An unusual design pillbox consisting of 2 rooms or adjoining sections with an outer right angle blast door at entrance. Interior measurements of the larger rectangular section are 16ft x 4ft. The smaller section measures about 4ft x 4ft inside. Parts of the pillbox walls are constructed of inner brickwork with granite blocks on the outside. Wall are 4ins thick in most parts. There are 8 embrasures, a few now blocked. Overall height of roof is 7ins, with a further 2ins of soil on top - presumably for camouflage. Granite blocks were added to exterior of walls after the brick walls were tested by the Army firing a bren gun at the walls and found them unsatisfactory.
