Non-standard design pillbox with the front section similar to a type 24, but with an outer courtyard to rear. This is identical to a pillbox at nearby Porthcurno, and probably built by the same builder. There are 5 straight-sided embrasures with the remains of steel shutters visible between the brick and granite walls. It is lined inside with bricks, and on the outside with granite blocks - 10ins of brick and 18ins outer granite thickness. Inner measurements of type 24 section - 9ft x 6ft. Courtyard 8ft x 9ft: walls 6.5ft high. Outer blast wall at entrance to courtyard section. The pillbox is completely encased in granite blocks.
