Heaps of soil measuring about 6ft in diameter, circular in shape and about 4ft high. There are probably a few hundred of these heaps still in existence all over the Goonhilly Downs area, and they were originally raised to deter aircraft or gliders from landing on this large open space. They are spaced approximately 50 yards apart.
