GHQ Line: Blue - Section of GHQ Stop Line running from near Melksham to Reading. Hungerford nodal point - The defences of Hungerford on the GHQ Blue Line. The defences were developed as a nodal point because Hungerford was considered an important centre of regional road communications (July 1940). During 1941 it was reclassified as a Category C anti-tank island. |
