Description from field visit: The main body of the work is aligned S to NE by N to face almost due E with possible Submarine DRF Cell at extreme N of the site, with the WW1 6pdr position and WW2 Vickers LAA 2pdr holdfast on the escarpment slightly to the N of the main gun line of 2 x 6in OBL and the on battery DRF, BOP adjacent to the gun line, with the magazine below and the stores inland.

This concrete and brick built battery is situated to the NE of Carlingnose Quarry. It consists of two 6-inch gun emplacements with magazines below and an observation post. The battery was built before World War One with the guns being installed in 1902. The guns were removed to Pettycur Battery (NT28NE 48.00) in 1916.
