CAFG was formed in 1978 to carry out practical field archaeology in the Cambridge area. Our purpose is to contribute to the archaeological knowledge of the region primarily through field-based activities, but also through archival research. We regularly carry out field-walking during the autumn, winter and spring periods. Our fieldwork results, written articles and photographs are regularly posted on our website, cafg.net, and on Facebook. We promote archaeology to the local community through our attendance at history events and by running excavations and community test-pitting. A regular series of lectures is presented and they are open to all.
