Abstract: |
Cameron Archaeology carried out a 7% evaluation of the two areas (Ill 3; Area 1 and Area 2). Area 1 is a 1.5 hectare field to the west of Gloie's Farm and east of Kirkton of Monymusk Mill, House and Cottage. The field is rough grass bounded on the south by a watercourse (originally associated with Kirkton of Monymusk Mill). The evaluation was limited slightly by overhead and underground electric cables (see Ill 2) and telephone wires running along the south and west of the area which determined the location of the trenches but it was possible to carry out full 7% evaluation. Area 2 is an area 70 x 35m in size with a frontage on the Monymusk to Pitfichie road adjacent to The Square. A building (now demolished) is seen on the 1867 First Edition Ordnance Survey map of the area. |
