Abstract:		 Desk-based assessment revealed that the proposed development site contained the Scheduled remains of part of the Roman Colonia, and probably also contained evidence of Roman Ermine Street, later additions and modifications to the road, deposits relating to the abandonment of the Roman city and subsequent Dark Age, medieval and post-medieval settlement activity.
