Abstract: |
A magnetic susceptibility survey and a detailed magnetometer survey were undertaken, prior to extension of the quarry. The susceptibility survey did not indicate that the site had been greatly disturbed and some magnetic anomalies suggested that the former ground surface had not been deeply buried. The magnetometer findings were not fully conclusive, and may have just reflected superficial disturbances associated with recent activities. They did not, however, exclude the possible presence of archaeological features such as ditches or pits. Features to be given priority in any further examination could have included the weakly disturbed area and pit-like anomalies. [Au(adp)] |
