Abstract: |
A photographic survey was carried out at Woodbine Farm in advance of the conversion of farm buildings to residential accommodation. Buildings are shown at this location on the Old Series Ordnance Survey map of 1824. The remaining buildings are arranged around a south facing cattle yard, with a cart shed situated to one side. A barn with integrated stables and a first floor space (granary?) probably represents the earliest phase of building - possibly with an open-sided and lofted building on the north side of the yard. Later in the 19th century, cattle sheds were added to the north and west sides of the yard and a large cart shed with integrated pigsties, meal house fowl house was built to the east. More enclosed forms of cattle accommodation were provided in the later 19th and 20th centuries. |
