Abstract: |
The digging of supporting angle buttresses for the dilapidated stone and brick Grade II* listed garden wall at Charterhouse exposed no archaeology, but served to date the wall. However, targeted excavation within the orangery indicated how the orangery was heated in its final phase and suggested that a similar arrangement heated it when it was first built sometime in the 19th century. |
