Usage

General Comments:

Large blocks can be obtained which are easy to work when 'green' but toughen considerably on exposure (Ashurst and Dimes 1990: 76) hence it was durable to weathering. It was principally used as a building stone but also for more ornate window tracery and local use such as fireplaces and walling.

Known Usage: Birmingham Cathedral, West Midlands: Ashlar/Facing Stone,
Coventry Cathedral, West Midlands: Unspecified,
Croxden Abbey, Staffordshire,
Hereford Cathedral, Herefordshire: Unspecified.
