Quarries

General Comments:

It is likely that many small pits and quarries supplied the stone for Lincoln Cathedral. Two quarries 500m east of the Cathedral may have supplied stone for the last 200 years and may have developed on the site of earlier pit workings. Cathedral Quarry has been worked for over a century (Jefferson n.d.: 5).

Known Quarries: 'The Pits' Quarry, Lincoln,
Cathedral Quarry, Lincoln.
