In August 2013 Cotswold Archaeology (CA) carried out an archaeological evaluation for Cala Homes (Midlands) Ltd on Land at Green Hedges, Claphill Lane, Rushwick, Worcestershire (centred on NGR: SO 8192 5392). The evaluation was undertaken as a required condition of planning consent for residential development of the site granted on appeal by the Planning Inspectorate (ref. nos APP/J1860/A/12/2187934; APP/J1860/A/13/2193129) for two applications made to Malvern Hills District Council (ref. nos 12/01661/FUL; 12/00833/FUL).
A total of eight trenches were excavated during the evaluation, leading to the discovery of an undated ditch, corresponding to a field boundary displayed on historic mapping, and a ploughing headland. No other features were identified and no artefactual material was recovered.
