Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Barker belongs in the line of giants from Pitt-Rivers and Petrie onwards, indeed his major contribution to archaeology may prove to be his valuation of the site as more important than its director. Petrie's understanding of the conflicting pulls of targets, techniques, and ethics is matched by Barker's, even though some have managed to misunderstand Barker's eloquent advocacy. In this light the rationale of research design, data acquisition, and data structure is examined. |
