Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
It is suggested that there are historical reasons why specialist interpretation and mapping of aerial photographs has rarely been employed on large-scale survey projects in Britain. However, examples drawn from the Fenland Project demonstrate the advantages of combining aerial photographic survey with fieldwalking. The efficacy and limitations of each form of survey are identified, and it is shown that a considerable increase in archaeological information is gained by integrating the two. It is suggested that improved archaeological survey designs would propose a complementary succession of air photo and surface survey episodes. | ||
