In order to determine the electrical resistivity and magnetic susceptibility signature of the fulachta fiadha, geophysical surveys were conducted over two intact examples. The resistivity method was moderately successful (dependent on the influence of various factors), while the magnetic method provided distinctive horseshoe-shaped signatures, and the results illustrate the feasibility of using geophysical methods to identify fulachta fiadha without resort to intrusive excavation. Resistivity surveys were also undertaken successfully on two damaged mounds. | ||
