Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Reports on a recent project undertaken by David Dungworth at English Heritage, who has been reviewing dated samples of window glass. Development from the poor quality and impure but nonetheless highly prized glass of the late medieval period to a final change in composition in about 1930 is outlined, with important changes occurring over short periods of time. The technological improvements and cost reductions for glass manufacture over the centuries also brought enormous improvements to conditions within buildings, and influenced their design. LD | |||
