Abstract:		 Calculations based on a reconstruction of the late Saxon logboat found at Clapton are used to show that the boat could have carried cargo loads of up to 133kg with a one or two-man crew, in less than 0.30m of water. The calculations suggest that the boat would have had a speed potential of c 2.5kts if propelled by three paddlers. M H
