Abstract:		 Reports a very detailed study of an extensive animal bone assemblage from a well where two periods of deposition -- early RB and late third-early fourth-century AD -- had undergone very little post-depositional disturbance. Details of porous and very porous cattle bones, along with non-porous data, butchery evidence, ageing details, metrical data and pathology are provided. Porous and non-porous sheep/goat bones, along with ageing and metrical data for this species assemblage are also given. Foetal and newborn pig skeletons and other pig bones are dealt with, as well as dog bones, horse, cat, red deer, roe deer, hare, fox, polecat, pine marten, other small mammals, mustelids, rodents, shrews, moles, bats, amphibians and birds. Details of the infilling of the well, exploitation practices, and extensive measurement data, were all gleaned from the study. Greater detail and illustration are provided on microfiche.
