Not only do Jersey's twelve ancient parish churches all have a similar aisleless cruciform plan of 11th century date, but their rubble stone pointed barrel vaults are found to be a secondary feature of early 13th century, perhaps introduced as fire precautions following the loss of Normandy by the English crown in 1204. | |||||||
