Abstract:
Excavation across the E defences revealed 1st-century attempts to drain the area, followed by dumping to raise the level. A building then erected went out of use by mid-2nd century and was followed by construction of a stone-faced defence by ?end of 2nd century. Specialist reports treat the pottery, the long history of ploughing on site, and molluscan/plant/insect remains.
