Abstract:
Describes the second season of work carried out by the Lancaster University Archaeological Unit in an extended area. The most significant discovery was of a medieval pottery kiln to the west of Cockshutt, while at Marton Pool near Chirbury a complete late seventeenth-century wine bottle and remains of a water meadow complex were revealed. In Staffordshire, work was restricted by agricultural activity and finds were on a much smaller scale although worked flints from Aqualate would appear to be significant.
