Abstract:
Two letters here transcribed and discussed give contemporary descriptions of archaeological discoveries in the 1820s. One concerns a beaker (Clarke Primary Southern type); the other gives an account of two burial mounds, probably in the Riggs group near SE 855583, with stratigraphy precociously drawn and described even if not then fully understood.
