Thames Valley Archaeological Services have conducted two small excavations just beyond the western outskirts of Wallingford in Oxfordshire, both providing evidence for occupation in the middle to late Iron Age and the middle to late Roman period. These limited results are of local interest as evidence for these periods has hitherto been rare in the Wallingford area. The sites are also important as they extend beyond a previously known cropmark complex, suggesting that more such evidence remains to be discovered in this area. Although the first site, adjacent to 60 Radnor Road, was excavated in 2009 and the second, at Sherwood Farm, more recently, as they are so similar the opportunity has been taken to present them together in this article. | |||||||||
