Abstract:
Notes the discovery of an eighteenth-century text providing evidence about post-medieval buildings with ground-set posts. This account indicates that the construction technique continued to be used in East Anglia as late as the mid-eighteenth century. It also gives a context for the transfer of the method to North America in the seventeenth century.
