Abstract:
Two sites were excavated. At Abon House there were 2nd century timber-framed buildings followed by stone. At 87 Sea Mills Lane a 1st/2nd century ditch was excavated, also part of a 3rd century building followed by 4th century burials. Finds suggest a military presence from AD 60 to mid 80s, and stamped brick and tile of Leg 11 Aug may indicate a frontier/supply post in 2nd century. Some 4th century expansion is seen but a slackening in administrative control is suggested by the burials and other evidence. All known RB evidence for the settlement is summarized to assist future research.
