Abstract
Abstract

Abstract:
An account of work carried out at the British Museum in the nine months prior to the Coroner's inquest (see also 95/1129), outlining future areas of study. The initial cleaning, labelling, and cataloguing of the objects and c 14,780 coins was followed by visual recording and scientific analyses. A report was then prepared for the inquest and a temporary exhibition was mounted. The next stage is to involve conservation and rerecording of conserved objects before the hoard is studied in its wider context. Peter Clayton (22-3) explains the Coroner's ruling and details the content of the cache in a supplementary note entitled `The Treasure Trove hoard'.
