Reports on two items arising from the 1993 Museum Archaeologists' Conference. The first is news of a Newnham Council cost-cutting proposal for the Passmore Edwards Museum, which would entail closure of the Romford Road premises, redundancy for the post of Curator, and abolition of the Field Archaeology Service. The second is a motion which urged SMA to press MGC and DNH to promote new legislation for the protection of portable antiquities in England and Wales, noting current Scottish law as a possible model. | |
