Abstract:
A small excavation revealed the remains of an isolated medieval farmstead with its associated field systems. The small amounts of pottery recovered suggest an occupation range of between the mid-eleventh and mid-twelfth centuries only, with just a handful of residual prehistoric finds representing other periods. The presence of ambiguous circular structures in the centre of the site leads to questions regarding the interpretation of structures in this region at this period. Unfortunately these structures are poorly dated. Analysis of the pottery suggests a common, local source for the ubiquitous chert-tempered wares.
