an area excavation outside the core of the village presumed to have been occupied in medieval times located Late Saxon occupation, indicated by ditches and pits with accompanying finds of pottery, on either side of a hollow-way. Further phases of activity through to the fourteenth century were recorded with a possible break in the immediate post-Conquest period. Pottery vessel forms suggest a relatively impoverished peasant economy throughout the period of occupation. Animal bones indicate that sheep was the dominant species but not used for food, while cereals were processed on or near the site, but evidence suggests little change in the exploitation of resources throughout the period of occupation.
