Report on a 1979 seminar given by Caroline Wickham-Jones and Rosemary Hope, which highlighted the lack of methodology shown by British lithic analysts. Their main criticism is of the 'morpho-taxonomic' approach and the fact that so-called cultural types are isolated. The work of R Bonnichsen is examined at some length in their paper. This advocates a method of analysis based on systems of attributes. LD |
