Excavation report beginning with the archaeological background for both sites and the results of initial geophysical survey. Weymouth Road yielded only recent features, particularly two showrings dating from the nineteenth century. Coburg Road comprised Bronze Age features including ring-ditches and cremations, a linear boundary ditch, and settlement features. In addition, a Romano-British sunken-featured building, medieval field boundaries, and recent or modern features were also recorded. Finds from Coburg Road include `Copper alloy objects' by J M Mills (32), `Worked flint and chert' by Frances Healy (32--5), `Stone' by J M Mills (35--6), `Pottery' by Rosamund M J Cleal (36--9), `Fired-clay' by J M Mills (39), `Bone objects' J M Mills (39), and `Cremated human bone' by Jacqueline I McKinley (39--41), `Terrestrial mollusca' by Michael J Allen (41), `Carbonised plant remains' by W J Carruthers, `Animal bones' by S Hamilton-Dyer (41--2). | |||||||||||||||||||
