Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Records relating to the Neolithic henge monument of Avebury illustrate the problems of the analysis of antiquarian records, and the specification of software required to facilitate analysis. Computers are used in this context for storage, analysis and presentation of textual and visual records and some of the existing tools and their uses are outlined, with future needs examined. The limited size of the archaeological readership prohibits full reproduction of photographic and colour graphic material; new ways are needed to approach the record of the past, and environments for visual comparison and virtual reality exploration should be acknowledged as needs of the archaeologist. | |||
