Abstract:
Describes the excavation of timber structures on an artificial platform, tree-ring dated to around 1350 BC. A palisade of substantial, mainly oak, timbers is thought to have been built by the Flag Fen community to defend their valuable arable land. Numerous bronze weapons and tools, including many apparently intentionally broken, were found in the area south of the palisade. Dozens of fragmentary human bones were found among them.
