Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
The lengthy gestation period of the Sutton Hoo volumes has been well worth it in view of the time it afforded for deep and wide consideration of the material. There remains a puzzle about the lack of a body: was the body present originally (within the coffin suggested by Evison) but piously removed for Christian burial in Sigeberht's reign? This would account for the disposition of the regalia. |
