Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Summary account of excavation of a previously unknown megalithic tomb with a series of near-unique structures. The earliest users of the site were farmers of the Cerny group (earlier 4th millennium BC); after a two-century gap two small cairns, one of Manio type, were built and then covered by a trapezoid mound of turves with a monumental stone façade leading to a wooden or turf chamber. Eventual blocking of the tomb was followed by a timber building surrounded by horseshoe stone settings; a hollow contained eight fine b-t arrowheads. Later a field system was made, there was Gallo-Roman pottery, and massive sand blows finally covered all. |
