Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Argues that it is unfortunate that E C Harris has devised a stratigraphic recording method peculiar to archaeology when the real need is to close the gap between archaeological and geological approaches. Some fundamentals of lithostratigraphy are discussed in relation to the ideas of H D Hedberg, J-M Le Tensorer, H Gasche, and Ö Turner; since lithostratigraphy is a necessary step in deciding 'how did this layer form' it must take procedural priority over all other stratigraphic schemes. |
