Abstract:
Summary report on two small excavations recently undertaken by the Manshead Archaeological Society in Bedfordshire. At Eggington, at a site where an Iron Age inhumation had been excavated in 1932, the current work revealed a spread of Mesolithic material and sherds of early Iron Age, late Roman and Saxon pottery. At Tilsworth, excavation was undertaken adjacent to a mound to establish whether it was a medieval motte or a windmill tump. This found that it was surrounded by a substantial ditch and was probably an early fortified site. LD
