The area surveyed joins those previously covered by Upper and Mid Thames gravel surveys, and the information has been derived mainly from air photographs with the addition of records of previously known sites and finds. The area was settled at all periods, sometimes intensively, but gravel extraction proceeds apace; a number of priorities are therefore defined for combined rescue/research work. | ||||
