Abstract:
Reports on fieldwork undertaken over the past two decades which has provided new insights into the site. The earliest settlement exhibited some evidence for deliberate planning. The only substantial building (with tessellated floors, hypocausts, painted walls and window glass) was a first century AD structure situated immediately to the south of the river and to the east of the road. During the second half of the second century this building was surrounded by a substantial bank and ditches. The settlement flourished until the early-fourth century, when it was divided into plots defined by ditches
