Abstract:
Defines East Midland Late Medieval Reduced Ware, outlines its main forms and discusses dating evidence. The ware is hard sandy grey to black, is produced in a limited range of forms (mostly bowls), and occurs in a large number of late medieval groups. Distribution is mainly on the lowlands NE of the Chilterns. Dating is from first half of 15th century to at least mid-16th, though a related soft oxidised fabric may continue into 17th century.
