Abstract:
Some well preserved timbers that appeared to be ancient were sampled for dating. The timbers were in fact relatively modern but valuable dendrochronologically because they helped fill a gap in the data for the growth pattern of timbers over the 17th and 18th centuries in northern England. The Bradbourne timbers help link the modern and medieval chronologies.
